Doin' the.... Pigeon

And because I'm just a geek like that, here is another one.

But you already knew that, too. Didn't you.

You Are Bert

Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!

You are usually feeling: Logical - you rarely let your emotions rule you

You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil

How you life your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others

muppets. a blog thing.

But this really isn't news.

You Are Miss Piggy

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.
You're going to be a total star, and you won't let any of the "little people" get in your way.
Just remember, piggy, never eat more than you can lift!

Moving growing visiting

Things, of course, are happening.

It's really Spring - the seeds I've planted are sprouting, the sprouts are growing, and the garden is in my mind, if not entirely in the soil. I'm planning carrots, bush beans (those fabulous Empress beans I've grown last year that are better than any green bean i've ever eaten), cherry tomatoes, lots of medicinal herbs, and maybe some peas or cukes, and zucchini. Not a lot of any one thing, but enough to play with. I'm learning to love echinacea purpurea. It's so reliable, and hardy, and thrives in our crappy sandy soil. Give it some sun, and some company, and it loves you right back. My kind of plant. Now if I can figure out how to love up e. angustifolia...

And we're seriously looking at land to purchase. I will temper my enthusiasm and details somewhat, since the one of the people we are looking to buy the land from does read this (ahem ;)), but I am just full of possibility. We found a spot that of course isn't the best possible, but feels soooo good. It just moves so well. Some trees, southern exposure, room for a big front yard/garden, and if that sucks for planting we could probably buy a little plot with better soil if we needed to. The people, of course, make it for us. If this works out we'll be in full-out problem-solving mode most of the time, planning to build a house and get the land all squared away. The enormity of this task is almost too big for me to imagine right now, so if anyone has gone through the process of buying land, buiding a driveway/road, all the little things from start to finished eco-minded home, please send me an email or links. I need lots of research and experiences. And when we actually start building, we'll need bodies for the walls and frame, and other stuff. You will be contacted.

The land is great, we have contacts for solar heating, and feel very positive. At some point, if we do end up buying what we looked at, I will post pics. Lucky you!

We're planning a trip south to visit my family soon, so you'll just have to do without in the mean time. And this time, I am more than pleased to say, we are staying in a HOTEL when we visit my family. With style, baby. A one-bedroom suite! And an indoor pool! Complimentary hot breakfast, cocktail hour, little luxuries to help the stressed out parents deal with all the stress of family and parenting my intense littles during the whole thing.

Gotta start some bathing things. Don't forget to write.

Love,
Your Mama

First tooth

My little is losing her first tooth! What a shocker. I went to brush her teeth (yes, she still wants that done for her) last night and noticed the emerging permanent tooth with surprise. So we talked a bit about it and now she's feeling a little self-conscious.

She's off to the big city with her dad in a couple days for a short visit. Maybe she'll come back with one less tooth...

My baby's growing up.

the lord didn't hand pick ME, or asshats and religious mods

I've been visiting MDC a lot less these days, because of the growing conservatism, censorship and asshat-ness [sure that's a word!] of the mods, policies, and members. In fact, the recent exclusion of birthmoms and adoptees from the Adoption forum has gotten me utterly pissed. And to top it all off, the mod who made the rules for the forum put in a poem about picking up your child for adoption at the airport and how "the lord hand-picked" him for the adoptive family.

I was neither hand-picked, nor hand-picked by "the lord" for my adoptive family. Not being a lord-follower, I just don't get why MDC needs to have that bit in there.

It is insulting to prioritize the needs of the adoptive parents over birthmoms and adoptees. At what point are the needs of birthmoms and adoptees as valued as the new family? The myth of the clean slate is getting really old.

Whatever, though. As the world goes, so does Mothering. I'm just pissed.
